Background
Founders Gavin Shettler and Bryan Suereth recognized the need for a fundamental cultivating entity to support Portland, Oregons burgeoning arts scene. PCAC was established as a non-profit art organization in September 2002 to fill this need by supporting local artists and sustaining the cultural economy.
Mission
PCAC is an institution dedicated to facilitating and supporting art and artists based in the metropolitan region of Portland, Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. PCAC aims to provide regional artists with a permanent neutral space in which they can showcase their work regionally, nationally, and internationally. It will also provide artists with a much-needed resource center to help educate and facilitate the research and creation of art across all disciplines. The long-needed arts center will also include a gallery space for the display of visual art, and an event space to host a variety of performance arts ranging from film to theater to music to installation projects and much more. Currently, PCAC is operating out of temporary space while it searches for a permanent home.
