VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

It's called civic pride--the unabashed exaltation of the city in which one lives. The Modern Zoo believes in creating a dialogue among citizens that encompasses art and community, culture and diversity, and integrates a balanced cultural consciousness based on education and experience. By bridging the business community, the citizenry and the artistic enterprises of Portland, the Modern Zoo celebrates this city as a paramount model of urban livability.

• Volunteers need no prior experience in railroading, machine operation, business, or other areas.

• Each department organizes its own specialized volunteer training, which can lead to increasingly responsible positions in equipment restoration and operation.

• To preserve your health, follow all necessary safety precautions and use proper safety equipment.

• Volunteers will be trained on the proper use of the radar gun.

We know Portland is a volunteer town and there are a lot of worthwhile organizations to contribute your time to but when you volunteer with the Modern Zoo not only will you be supporting the local art scene, you'll get to work with a fun group of people.
